Q. How much do these things cost?

A. Initial investment is $5500 to $6500. But keep in mind rebates and incentives will be covering 80% or more for the average household. The average household saves roughly $765 a year. The system pays for itself within the first 24 months and continues to provide a huge savings every year after!

Q. How do the rebates work?
A. APS/SRP gives you a rebate amount based on the efficiency of the model you are installing. In other words, the more energy it saves, the more you get. Federal is going to cover 30% of the total system cost with a tax credit. This credit is same as cash. It will either lower what you owe or add on to your return. State will cover $1,000 of the total system cost.
Note: State and Federal rebates have nothing to do with the customer’s income. They are simply based on the system itself.

Q. How much can I expect to save?
A. Heating your water is the second highest utility cost you have. A solar water heater will save you approximately 30% on your monthly utility bill. It is also estimated that for every $1 in energy that you save, you add $20 to the value of your home.
